Mechanism tuning generally involves removing binds that keep a locomotive from moving freely. That might mean straightening bent parts, or re-quartering the drivers, or slightly enlarging holes so parts turn freely. No matter how many new parts a person puts on binding locomotive it will only run as smoothly as the mechanism allows. One of the most helpful things I can do for a model is eliminate pinches and binds.
