For the time being I am setting rates on a project by project basis.
My rates tend to be reasonable, and am told I am under priced. Please read on for examples of typical costs.
A simple non-sound DCC decoder installation can be done for $100 plus parts. Basic lighting is included.
A typical DCC sound decoder and speaker installation will cost approximately $200 plus parts. Basic lighting is included, but complex lighting may be extra depending on the request.
Many mechanical repairs can be done for less than $50 plus the cost of parts, but costs go up if the job is extensive.
Structural repairs have to be considered on a job by job basis. Reattaching a pilot to an undamaged unpainted pilot deck may be as cheap as $30 if no unusual complications arise. Rebuilding a crushed cab resulting from a 5-foot fall to the floor will probably cost more.
A full paint and decal job typically costs around $150, but the price increases if the job is complex. I consider a black steamer with a silver smokebox to be typical. I consider a S.P. red/orange Daylight or green Southern Ps-4 with full gold pin striping striping to be complex.
I do have purchasing arrangements with many companies that produce the parts I use. If a customer wants to provide the parts themselves, that's okay with me. I recommend checking with me first to see if I can get the parts cheaper.
I accept personal checks, but they have to clear my bank before I can return the model to you.
I also have a Pay Pal account and will accept payment though Pay Pal.
If all other methods are impractical for you I can accept Master Card or Visa, but try to use this option as a last resort.
